2. Cyclone series FPGAs for low cost
The Cyclone family of FPGAs is designed to meet users’ needs for low-power, low-cost designs and help them bring products to market more quickly. Each generation of Cyclone family FPGAs is dedicated to addressing the technical challenges of improving integration and performance, reducing power consumption, product and time-to-market while meeting the low-cost requirements of users.
The Cyclone family of FPGAs are introduced at the times and process technologies shown in Table 1-2.
Table 1-2 Cyclone Series Table
Cyclone FPGAs is the first low-cost FPGAs. for today’s designs requiring advanced features and very low power, consider the higher-density Cyclone IV and Cyclone III FPGAs. these newer Cyclone families continue to provide users with the industry’s best solutions for high-volume, low-cost applications.
Designed from the ground up for low cost, Cyclone II FPGAs deliver the features users need for high-volume, low-cost applications. cyclone II FPGAs deliver high performance and low power at the cost of an ASIC.
The Cyclone III FPGA family is manufactured using TSMC’s low-power process technology to achieve low power consumption at an ASIC equivalent price.
Cyclone IV FPGAs are the lowest cost, lowest power FPGAs on the market and are now also available in transceiver models The Cyclone IV FPGA family is targeted at cost-sensitive, high-volume applications to meet users’ increasing bandwidth requirements while reducing costs.
Cyclone V FPGAs offer the lowest system cost and lowest power FPGA solutions on the market for industrial, wireless, fixed-line, broadcast, and consumer applications. The family integrates a rich set of hardcore intellectual property (IP) modules to help users do more with lower total system costs and shorter design times. SoC FPGAs in the Cyclone V family enable Unique and innovative technologies, such as a hardcore processor system (HPS)-centric, dual-core ARM CortexTM-A9 MPCoreTM processor, and a rich set of hardware peripherals that reduce system power and cost and reduce board area.
Xilinx’s typical products
Xilinx’s mainstream FPGAs are divided into two categories: one focuses on low-cost applications with medium capacity and performance that can meet general logic design requirements, such as the Spartan series; the other focuses on high-performance applications with large capacity and performance that can meet various high-end applications, such as the Virtex series, users can choose according to the actual application requirements, and in the case where performance can be met Priority is given to low-cost devices.
