As chip design companies continue to emerge, the demand for pellicle films for the Arf and Krf lithography processes for wafer manufacturing has outstripped the price and increased.
Earlier this year, upstream raw material supplier 3M had to close its factory in Belgium to comply with local environmental protection laws, rising raw material prices led to higher mask film prices, and mergers between Japanese mask film manufacturers also slowed production of related products and tight supply. In addition, several mask film manufacturers are also developing new coatings for advanced process nodes such as EUV, resulting in an overall decline in production.
South Korean photomask protective film supplier FST is expected to increase the proportion of mask export revenue this year from 30% last year to 40% this year.
